The Asset Shift: Why I Left the Bank for Physical Truth

I was 28, ambitious, and preparing to take over my family’s banking office. A gold-paved future lay ahead of me. Until that one day at the headquarters of one of the world’s largest bank-insurers.

In a simple graph, it was demonstrated that the pension savings system—the holy grail of the banking world—had already failed as far back as the 1990s. It was built on a world that no longer existed: one with a minimum positive interest rate of 8% and inflation that would never exceed 2%.

The reality in 2014 for a 28 year-old? Even with a total savings pot of approximately €65,000, the purchasing power by the time you actually needed it wouldn't even be enough to book a flight to Spain.

Two things shocked me that day:

1. The cold, hard data of a faltering system.

2. The total indifference of my fellow bank directors and staff. No one asked a question. Everyone looked away.

I swallowed my comments, went home, and have since immersed myself in every piece of available information I could find. For me, the conclusion was inevitable:

When we save in a currency that can be created in unlimited quantities, the real value of those savings erodes faster than we can build them up.

My faith in traditional "paper" solutions was wiped out. I could no longer participate in a system whose foundations I saw were crumbling, let alone sell those products. Not for myself, and certainly not for the entrepreneurs in my circle who had worked tirelessly for their success, but could not see the invisible theft of their purchasing power approaching.

That was the moment my search for physical truth began. Not in paper, but in tangible assets with a natural scarcity.
